PBIR Cancels All Track Activities until September 12, 2017

JUPITER, Fla. (September 5, 2017) – Palm Beach International Raceway officials announced Tuesday all track activity between September 5, 2017 and September 12, 2017 will be cancelled due to Hurricane Irma.
Hurricane Irma, now a Category 5 storm, is the strongest Atlantic Hurricane in 10 years, and poses a threat to Florida.  Officials came to the decision Tuesday morning after watching weekend forecasts and monitoring storm projections.
“After looking at the different models for Irma’s path, we’ve decided to cancel all events for this week and weekend,” said Tim Hilton, PBIR General Manager. “We have an obligation to keep our employees, spectators, and participants safe, as well as ensuring that all track equipment is preserved. We will revisit our schedule moving forward on Tuesday, September 12, 2017.”
PBIR officials and staff will begin the process of securing the track later today.  Officials ask that everyone take the time during the week to prepare and, if it comes to it, cooperate with evacuation orders of local and state governments.  The staff at PBIR would like to extend its best wishes to everyone in Hurricane Irma’s path for a safe week and weekend.

KARTING CHALLENGE OF FLORIDA TO HOST BRIGGS LO206 CLASSES

Helping to get people into the sport of karting, Karting Challenge of Florida (KCF) announced last week the launch of their new series at Palm Beach Karting, however there was some confusion if the KCF program would offer the LO206 lineup. The answer is yes! With the first event scheduled for this weekend, Palm Beach Karting is pulling out all the stops to make the re-launch of the Southern Florida program a successful one.

Along with the full lineup of ROK Cup USA classes, Briggs & Stratton competitors will also battle wheel-to-wheel and have the chance to take in some elite racing competition at the Jupiter, Florida facility.

Briggs champions of the five race series will receive a season’s pass to Palm Beach Karting for 2018, which will include all official practice days and races free for the 2018 calendar year.

Race Dates:
Round 4 – July 29, 2017
Round 5 – August 26, 2017
Round 6 – October 21, 2017
Round 7 – November 25, 2017
Round 8 – December 16, 2017

Briggs classes will run the Briggs National rules. More information on Briggs and ROK classes, as well as race day format, registration, and awards, are available HERE. KCF race day schedule is also available to download HERE.
